We are delighted to be going on forest school sessions each week. There are so many benefits to forest school for children’s wellbeing and development and the children absolutely love it. On Tuesday, some of our pre-school children attended their second forest school session. The children enjoyed eating hot dogs around the fire pit, climbing on fallen trees, playing turn taking games, going on a treasure hunt and spent time comparing leaves that they found. When the children returned to nursery, they were so excited to tell their teachers and the other children what they had been doing. They are already looking forward to next weeks session!
The children had lots of fun exploring different ways of writing and making marks. This included printing with potatoes, exploring flour and gloop and using light up writing boards. In the afternoon some of our parents came to nursery to join in with some fun activities to help strengthen our muscles and develop our writing and mark making skills, including threading pasta onto spaghetti, scarf dancing, letter formation in sand and using different tools to make marks in flour. The staff also provided the parents with some lovely ideas to take home! Thanks to everyone who came!
Some of our Worker Bees enjoyed painting with a difference today. They combined different colours on foil and then pressed a piece of paper on top of the paint to print on. They were fascinated by the different patterns they had created!
The children all had such fun recently coming to nursery dressed as their favourite superhero or princess character! There was a large variety to see including Elsa, Batman, Pj Masks, Woody and supergirl! This was all in aid of the charity crackerjacks, thank you to everyone who donated!
Today we held a ‘Princesses and Pirates’ day to raise money for Crackerjacks charity. The children were invited to come into nursery dressed as either a princess or a pirate and bring with them a donation for a very worthy cause. The children thoroughly enjoyed dressing up and getting into role. We had a lovely day.
The children had a ‘fantastico’ time in nursery learning about and celebrating Mexico! The children watched some footage of Mexican dancing and were excited to have a go themselves. Some of our children giggled as they tried on sombreros & some of our pre-school children attempted to make their own! We made some Mexican flags to wave along to Mexican themed music and we all enjoyed a Mexican themed lunch from our lovely cook Donna. The enchiladas and spicy biscuits were delicious!! Pre-school children had several Mexican objects placed on their tables to discuss during lunch whilst pre-school staff dressed in ponchos to be Mexican waitresses!
Some of our Worker Bees children had lots of fun exploring transient art today. The children used their imagination to create pictures and patterns from various loose parts. There were various creations including a house pretty enough for a princess, a flower, a tiger & a monster. Libby even decided to turn herself into a picture!
