Chinese Cooking!

Written by Aigburth. Posted in General

With Chinese New year coming up, one of our parents, Li kindly spared some time to come & do a cooking session with the children where they learnt to make Chinese dumplings!
The children helped to chop up the ingredients including lettuce & spring onion & then mix it all together to make the mixture for inside the dumplings.
The children each had a turn at making their own dumpling, spooning the mixture in & then carefully folding the pastry over.
They then helped Li to steam the dumplings, being very careful whilst putting them into the hot water to cook.
They all then had a try of their dumplings & especially enjoyed dipping them in sauce!

Pre-school Go Shopping

Some of our eco-committee children caught the bus to go shopping at our local supermarket.
We used donations from our food waste/takeaway scheme to purchase items for our local food bank.
The children took their time selecting items that they thought would be beneficial for those who are in need.
One child even suggested that we purchase some ‘free from’ items as he explained there are some foods that he is unable to have & this may be the same for other people too.
The children did a great job of operating the self-serve checkout & putting the money in to pay.
